Having been on the lookout for a new job for a while, one of the most repetitive tasks is writing cover letters that match up with the job posting’s list of requirements and my experience and skillset, replicating the tone of the listing (quite important!) whilst trying to remain professional (not just frustrated and angry!)

I know these things exist already (behind a signup/paywall) but why not just build my own, tailored to all my needs (and learn a bit whilst I’m at it). Using Open A.I. API and swappiing out the models is quite interesting. I started out using gpt-4o-2024-08-06 and quickly burned through my credit. Added a switch, used pt-4.1-nano-2025-04-14 and have barely touched the sides! Live and learn…
